Wild 'N Out Season 16 & 17
The global pandemic came with its own set of challenges as broadcast production shoot teams were forced to pivot their pipelines to ensure the show went on.
Fans have grown to love the live artist performances, integral to the show, but this season filming these proved challenging!
The challenge? Produce a series of performance videos to supplement live performances within each episode, ensuring these felt dynamic and integrated.
The solution? Film performers across 3 locations, in green screen studios on both green and black backdrops. The Fox & Co team then used this footage to edit together and produce the performance segments included in each episode across both Season 16 and 17.
Project standouts? Keeping with the season’s theme ‘In the Dark’, we set up a visual identity library which would span across each of the videos. Using UI design, iconography, 3D assets and typography we focused specifically on an art direction that would enhance each piece, in spite of any limitations. With fast delivery turnaround times on each of the episodes, our team had to ensure the project logistics and pipeline was in place before filming with each artist. To test our approach and methodology, the team set up a test shoot. This would allow us to implement our process, troubleshoot any problems and provide a clear understanding of any foreseeable challenges.
The end result? With a team of artists across the globe, spanning across varying time zones, we successfully delivered around 54 music videos, during Season 16 & 17 of MTV’s Nick Cannon’s Wild N Out over the period of 10 weeks.
